Mike Peck

My research interests are in the basic and strategic aspects of the physiology and molecular biology of Clostridium botulinum (and other foodborne pathogens), and applying research findings, including developments in mathematical biology, such as risk assessment to issues faced by industry and regulators.

I have a long history of collaborative projects with industry leading on projects centred on bacterial pathogens and risk assessment. I work with the Food Standards Agency, DEFRA and the Advisory Committee on the Microbiological Safety of Food (ACMSF) and have advised on government policy regarding food safety issues.

As Director of the Food Safety Centre I will continue to use my expertise and that of my team to ensure the Centre is a major contributor to providing a safe and secure food chain for consumers within the UK and internationally.
